WHERE DID MY TIME GO?
I went for a swim on Monday (9 Oct). The last time I went for a swim was also on a Monday (14 Aug). So what's the significance? The significance is that I haven't been feeling well during the eight weeks in between these two swims.

Those (including myself) who think that mild to moderate exercise would help with my headache are probably wrong. While I had a headache-free day on Tuesday, and I thought that it was gone for good, it came back with a vengence on Wednesday. Looks like I am going to have to continue to live with it.

I want so much to get back to exercise. My arms are flabby, my tummy is growing, and my beloved Asics shoes are becoming a home for spiders.

A quick look through my diary revealed shocking results. The few periods that I actually felt ok were as far back as (1) the few days immediately after fyp submission (2) the few days at Sibu Island (3) the two days at KL's place (4) the first few days of August. No link here either, it just comes and goes as it pleases.

Maybe I should be optimistic about it. Oh I love my headache.. Oh I love being tired.. being lame liao (and sarcastic too).

For the past week weeks, I have been wondering where my time has gone. I do not have my FYP, design and other demanding electives to contend with, yet I do not have a lot of time on my hands. I finally realised last week that I had to take frequent naps (sometimes 5 to 6) throughout the day (could range from 15 min to 2 hours) just to relieve my headache/fatigue.

Ok was quite happy during the mid-term break though (despite being me, which mean not initiating outings).
(a) Drove for the first time with elinear as passenger for her project stuff, the excitement lingers and still feeling this fascination about driving and cars in general;
(b) had a simple yet fun mooncake party at Beam's place with just his gf and his parents around. Though was furiously reading project stuff even at his place that he complained I was ignoring him. His mum was so nice to give me some half a bottle of fish oil soft gels and also suggested manuka honey which were said to be able to help my headache/fatigue.
(c) Me and CY drove to East Coast and various places just for fun. There were a lot of boo-boos on the road though
(d) Finished a rough hysys pfd from scratch for jw in 3 hrs and 22 min. I thought I could do it in 2 hrs. Overestimated myself liao. Surprisingly nostalgic about it, I hate to admit it but it's quite fun. Emphasis: "quite". Not so fun when it cannot converge.
(e) Watched "Little Miss Sunshine" movie (omg, I can't remember when was the last time I watched one) and dinner with a friend. Expected it to be fun, but it was even better.
(f) Monthly meet-up with poly gang for lunch, and ktv after. Discussed possibility of a weekend trip to Malaysia in early November (which is very likely to go through). To heck with the project deadlines, mid-term tests and the exams.

Have survived three tests to date, and finished one term paper. one more term-paper and one project to go. Quite worried for elinear though, falling really sick during test period, last sem it happened to her too. Unable to help her much, but can relate to it. I better stop thinking about elinear before someone else spanks me on the bottom.

And come to think of it. I haven't had a fever for a very very long time liao. Hmmm.. maybe because I am not "hot" enough.

I have learnt to accept my condition as a part of my life though. I try not to get frustrated, just let it come, have some rest and get back to schoolwork whenever I am ok.

CHAIN OF THOUGHTS
An old lady came to my house this morning and chatted to my dad. Somehow their conversation touched on the fact that her kids abandoned her.

Which led me to the thought that there are a lot of rich couples out there who drive BMWs and abandon their parents in old age and refuse to pay upkeep of a few hundred dollars even when pressurized to. (reported in papers)

Which led me to the question that I used to think about quite a lot: Should we respect people who SEEM to have a lot of compassion (showing compassion for Huang Na's incident and donating money to the Tsunami), yet can still abandon their parents? (also reported in papers)

Which led me to question whether I am a "noble" person? Since I was cynical about the Huang Na incident, which drew a lot of flak, and I was similarly cynical about the Tsunami incident, so I didn't comment about tsunami at all.

Which led me to think about the fact that I felt pressurized when I first learnt that clover and jw were volunteering at a hospital. And shortly after, also learnt that a classmate TM, and a junior YL are also volunteering somewhere else.

Which led me to conclude that I am not a noble person.

Which led me to wonder why I am like that.

Which led me to remember why I hate committing my time (especially my Saturdays) to anything (not even for selfish reasons like my own physiotherapy)

Which led me to remember that it is probably because I was always made to go back to school for my CCA Chinese Orchestra, which I didn't love, on Saturdays.

Which led me to wonder whether it is society's fault that people are no longer able to do what they like and have to conform to something they dun like, just so as to be more competitive.

Imagine everybody only does what they like during their free time, what would the scenario during a job interview be like? I mean, collecting insects and playing football on saturdays has nothing to do with making anyone more suitable for a job.

You can of course bullsh*t and say that though u didn't earn CCA points for playing football on saturday, you learnt teamwork when in actual fact, you can't score goals as a striker, score own goals as a defender and everyone ostracizes you. Collecting insects... er... is extremely cool, so cool that the pest busting companies head-hunt you cos you are the only one who loves cockroaches. (No offence intended)

Maybe something unusual will turn the interviewers on.

Interviewer: What is your hobby?
Job Applicant: Writing slogans to stop women with long hair from taking over the world.
Interviewer: Cool...Wow... you're such a weirdo, you're hired!

But I think that the job of a "Professional TV-viewer" where you do nothing but watch TV whole day will be very popular among my friends. =)
